Krafty Kids Club- Decorative rock painting

Where: The Foxlowe Arts Centre, Leek, Cabbage Rose Workshops (Upstairs, turn left after the office and follow the signs through the corridor all the way to the end.)

When: Tuesday, 12th August, 2-4pm

Have you ever painted a rock before? I’m sure you painted on paper or canvas. This is a bit different. It’s a bit more difficult to paint on a 3D surface but it’s great fun! All rocks are different shapes and sizes with smooth bits, bumps, lumps and indentations here and there. After you pick the most beautiful rock, you’ll learn a couple of secrets. How to prepare it for painting, what paints to use and how to protect your rock from the elements if you want to keep it outside in your garden. You can also write messages on them after painting, if you want!

You’ll go home with several works of art that you can scatter all around your home or garden. You can use them as door stops, paper weights or decorations in window sills. (You’ll get soft pieces of felt for the bottom so the rocks would not scratch any surface.) Or just give them as presents to your best friend 🙂

You’ll learn different techniques such as shading, blending colours and a couple of painting techniques as well.

To speed up the process of drying we’ll be using hair dryers so this workshop might be a bit loud from time to time.
